Today's post is from Gennean from Loved, Not Lost. Her blog serves as a great encouragement for me and others. Be sure to check it out! =D
What inspires me and stirs my affections for Christ, truth and
holiness? Well, many things! Here are just a few of
the things that inspire my life with the Lord...
The Bible. God's
living, breathing Word. Nothing brings more satisfaction to
my longing, restless heart than spending my mornings delved fully in His
life-giving Word.
Journaling. It
has become one of my most favorite things to do! My journal
is filled with prayers, song lyrics, quotes from book and people, and
Scripture references. It is always amusing to look back
through my journals to see where I was at one, two, or three years ago,
and compare it to where I am now. Being able to chronicle the
journey that I am on with the Lord is awesome, and to be able to give
Him the glory for the transformation that has occurred in my life is so
worth it.
Conversations. With
dearly beloved friends and mentors, preferably over a cup of coffee! These vital "coffee dates" have become a weekly staple for me. There is something just so intimate and beautiful about
pouring out my life into another and thus being poured into as a
result. Whether there are laughter or tears involved (or
both), I love being encouraged, convicted, and inspired by the
conversations I am able to have with those whom I trust and love!
Chapel. Or
Church- in God's house, worshipping with His body! At my
university, we have chapel twice a week, and I absolutely love just
knowing that my entire school - students, staff, faculty, everyone - is
all together in one place worshipping our awesome and sovereign Lord! Plus, the truth of God's Word is preached in mighty ways
through many different people, and the end result is that He is
glorified.
Blogging. It
has become my outlet for what the Lord places on my heart! Whether it be a quote, a passage of Scripture, or a specific
topic, I know that when I feel the burden of it weighing on me, I should
share it or write it (or sometimes both). My blog has become
that place where I can write for my own purpose of processing as well as
for others who may be thirsty to draw closer to God!
What sort of things inspire you to grow closer to Jesus? What makes you want to pursue further holiness and truth?

This is a great list, Gennean. Something that makes me pursue the truth is the cross and the persecution going on around the world right now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for guest posting Gennean! Loved your list! =D
